Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

  • Do you provide Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)?

    Yes, we incorporate DBT practices including mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and emotional regulation in our practice.

  • Do you offer services in-person, via telehealth, or both?

    We offer both in-person and telehealth sessions.

  • My child is being treated for a mental health condition and is struggling in school. Is he/she eligible for accommodations?

    Possibly, but that is a multidisciplinary, school-based decision. Please reach out to your school counselor to discuss your concerns and to determine whether a 504 plan or IEP may be appropriate for your child.

    Please visit  https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/individuals-disabilities/section-504 to learn more about the American Disabilities Act (ADA);

    Visit https://www.ed.gov/laws-and-policy/individuals-disabilities/idea for information regarding the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

  • Will homework be assigned during therapy?

    A therapist may suggest homework assignments to reinforce skills that have been discussed during sessions. Therapists may also recommend books and/or publications to learn more about related topics. Please do not let the prospect of homework deter you from therapy and discuss any homework concerns with your therapist.

  • How often will I need to go to therapy, and how will I know when I'm done with treatment?

    Your therapist will help you establish treatment goals at the beginning of the therapeutic relationship, including the frequency of sessions. Once your goals have been met and you haven't identified any other areas that you would like to work on, that would be an indication that therapy has been helpful.

    You and your therapist may discuss tapering sessions moving forward. Please know that you have the option of re-establishing therapy in the future if circumstances in your life change, and/or you find yourself needing support.
